Ian Tyson Writes His Autobiography
Random House Canada will release a new book by Ian Tyson on October 23. The Long Trail: My Life in the West is an autobiography that the author has been working on for many months, in between his ranching tasks and his musical tour schedule. This is his story, told the way he wanted to. U22 and Alberta Arts Days!
U22 was thrilled to participate last year by programming a full weekend of youth driven concerts and workshops at The Royal Alberta Museum. During the weekend, CBC filmed a one-hour television special featuring 10 of the U22 songwriters in concert from the RAM Theatre. The U22 concert special will air during Arts Days 2010 on Saturday, September 18th at 7:30 pm on CBC Television! Please tune in or set your system to record the show!

Five Facilities to Lead 2010 Alberta Arts Days Celebrations (September 17–19, 2010)
To inspire Alberta Arts Days events across the province and increase Albertans’ access to cultural experiences, the Government of Alberta has formed partnerships with five cultural facilities. Lethbridge’s Yates Memorial Theatre, Grande Prairie’s Prairie Art Gallery, Red Deer’s Bower Pond Stage, St. Albert’s Arden Theatre and the Banff Centre have been selected as the 2010 Alberta Arts Days Feature Celebration Sites. Alberta Arts Days is also part of National Culture Days – a pan-Canadian movement to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of all Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities. CCMA Fans’ Choice Award ¨Voting Deadline: September 11¨
The Canadian Country Music Association announced today the nominees for the 2010 CCMA Fans’ Choice Award: Doc Walker, Johnny Reid as well as Albertans Gord Bamford, George Canyon, and Corb Lund. The public can vote on-line at http://www.ccma.org for their favorite Canadian Country Star. The winner will be announced during the CCMA Awards at Rexall Place in Edmonton, Alberta on Sunday, September 12, 2010.
The Canadian Council of Music Industry Associations (CCMIA) Restructures to Meet Today’s Challenges in the Canadian Music Industry
The Canadian Council of Music Industry Associations (CCMIA), composed of 10 provincial and territorial music industry associations, has undergone corporate restructuring designed to more effectively address current issues faced by the Canadian music industry. The restructuring includes the induction of a new executive team – J.P. Ellson (SaskMusic), Vice-Chair Bob D’Eith (Music B.C.) and Secretary-Treasurer Denis Parker (Music Newfoundland and Labrador). The members of the CCMIA include Music Newfoundland and Labrador, Music Nova Scotia, Music Prince Edward Island, Music New Brunswick, Music and Film in Motion (Northern Ontario), Manitoba Music, SaskMusic, Alberta Music, Music B.C. and Music Yukon The CCMIA, originally incorporated in 2002, is embarking on a series of initiatives and projects that will assist its thousands of members and through them improve the diversification and stability of the Canadian economy.
