Peak Performance Project Comes to Alberta

The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group, Canada’s largest private western-based broadcaster, announced on May 24, 2012 that the company has been awarded a license from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to launch a new FM radio station serving the city of Calgary, Alberta…
The station, to be broadcast at 95.3 FM will be known as The PEAK and will be a music
intensive Adult Album Alternative (AAA) format. The station will have a primary focus on new and emerging artists and a secondary focus on alternative music from the last decade (2000–2010). Local artists such as Cumako, Sydney York, The Dudes, Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, Braids and Zerbin will receive airplay, along with artists Said the Whale, Dan Mangan, Current Swell, Acres of Lions, Mother Mother, The Matinée, Hey Rosetta and Hey Ocean…
As part of this application, the Jim Pattison Broadcast Group has committed $8.75 million over 7 years to the promotion and development of Canadian Content (CCD), all of which will benefit emerging Canadian artists. Those initiatives include $4.9 million for the Alberta PEAK Performance Project supported by the Alberta Music Industry Association. Arnish explained, “We’re pleased to be able to launch this new CCD initiative that will be similar to the very successful PEAK Performance Project (PPP) in Vancouver.”...
